Things We Will Need From you

If you are a new client of the firm, there are some things you can do to help us efficiently handle your case.  The more legwork you can do, the less we’ll have to do which can save you substantial fees and costs.  First, we ask that new clients of the firm complete the Client Intake Form available on this site.   If this is an emergency and you are unable to print and complete the form, please just call me and you can complete the form upon your arrival.  Second, you should start gathering the documents we’ll need.  The following is a list of the documentation that will be vital to your case.  Not all documents will apply to every case.  Also, if you don’t have copies of a relevant document, just let us know who does and we’ll get it through the discovery process.  If you need any help, you can always contact us.

Other documents to bring with you:

If you have a prior decree or judgment in place, please bring a copy of it with you.

If you have been served with papers, please bring them with you.

If you have a police report, please bring it with you.

You may also bring the following: Income Tax Returns, Income Information, Banking Information, Life and General Insurance Information, Real Property, Employment Records, Financial Statements.

Family Law encompasses a large, sometimes complex, and often highly emotional area of the law.  It includes everything from establishment of paternity to pre-nuptial agreements or post nuptial agreements, divorce or legal separation, child support, child custody, spousal support, property division, step parent adoption, grandparent custody, guardianship of children or adults with persons outside of the family, and DFS or Children’s Division investigations and involvement, and orders of protection or ex parte orders.  I have also found that people going through the stress of significant and intimate family changes often also need help with traffic offenses that would not have otherwise occurred, including DWI and other municipal offenses. Therefore, in addition to empowering you through compassion, listening and working with you as a member of your legal team, I am also able to work closely with other professionals you may need or may already be involved with, such as therapists or accountants, and I am able to assist you with your legal needs that may arise because of a traffic ticket, DWI and other minor offenses.
